About John

John Mapel is a professionally trained propagator, horticulturist and garden designer. He received his B.S. degree in Agriculture from Purdue University. He also studied horticulture and container garden composition with world-renowned plantsman Marco Polo Stufano, retired Director of Horticulture at Wave Hill in New York City.

John's skills are diverse. While his passion lies in plant propagation and greenhouse management, he has successfully consulted and installed gardens for many clients in and around central New England.

We offer a wide variety of horticultural and garden design services, including container garden design and maintenance, garden design consultation, garden planning and layout, garden maintenance, and a nursery featuring annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, trees and shrubs.

In Spring, Mapel Plants holds its annual plant sale, offering thousands of choice and hard-to-find plants. The nursery is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from April 29 to June 26, 2011, 9am to 5pm, or by appointment. Please call (508) 839-0527.
